On the Bench

The next morning, I moved the unit into the electronics lab and connected it to my trusty Audio Precision analyzer. The measurements I got were respectable, but in some cases were slightly different than the specifications in the owner’s manual. However, my listening impressions were backed up by very good signal to noise and frequency response measurements, and I’m happy to report the output impedance, a specification critical to good noise immunity, was also very good.

The built-in amplifier was a couple of watts short of the published spec, and the RCA output voltage was also about 15% lower than expected, but other than that, it measured very good, especially for a unit at this price.

Conclusion

Go ahead and do it. You know you’re ready to pitch out the low-tech lump of junk that’s currently in your dash and update it with a fully modern piece of technology with all the cool features and conveniences that new tech affords. And maybe best of all, with the Axxera XDMA7800, you can do it all at a price anyone can afford. So what are you waiting for? Drop into your local Axxera retailer and check it out for yourself.
