Tell us about yourself.
Hi, my name is Brock Hanawahine. I shoot for JDMculture. I'm a noob to photography, but I'm definitely eager to learn and improve. I want to capture the special moments for someone to look back at on and reminisce. Anywhere from covering Car Shows to Weddings, Club Events and Anniversaries, and really anything in between.

Where were you born, and do you still live there now?
I was born and raised in Oahu, Hawaii. Mililani to be exact.

Did you go to school for photography or was it something you picked up yourself?
Nope, not at all.

How did you get into writing/ photography/ videography?
I got into photography because I want to be able to have something to look back on and cherish. I started off wanting to take family pictures of my twin boys, and it just so happens that I'm also into cars. VOILA! And here I am.

How long have you been a photographer for?
Since Christmas, 2012. It was the best gift my fiancee could have given me (now she regrets it).

What’s your style?
I guess it’s mainly experimental and creative. I don't want to be that guy that can only shoot one way. I'm also big on night photography, and stars and landscapes in my photos. But light paint and long exposures is what I love to do.

What is your favorite location to shoot pictures?
Studios are always fun, but they're always so predictable. I prefer shooting at lookouts, mountain passes, and even the beach. I mostly like to shoot at night or during the sunset. A whole new world opens up after the sun goes down.

What has been your most memorable assignment or vehicle/model to work with?
Hmm, well I guess it would have to be my holiday shoot that I just did. It was fun, the model and my crew were just having fun with it and laughing the entire time. Not many set shots, but more candid free flowing. It made for much more realistic and sensual photos. And it was Christmas, who doesn't love Christmas?!

What would you say to other enthusiast photographers out there who aspire to become a great writer/photographer/videographer?
I would say experiment and have fun with it. Learn, and research. Join a forums, and shoot with other photographers. What I like to say all the time is, "its photography. take a shot. the worst that could happen is that you don't like it and delete. so just keep snapping!"

List your experience:
Hellaflush 2012, Spocom 2012, Street Car Showdown 2012, Traffic Jam 2013, Wekfest 2013, Spocom 2013, Arts in Motion 2013, HIN 2013

Any finals words?
HAVE FUN!!!
