We’ve covered a lot of cars for our Chopping Block series, our ongoing chronicle of discontinued models, and it is grim stuff. Many of the nameplates being retired are passenger cars, and they are often performance oriented. And there will be more given we’re at a time when automakers are confirming which cars will – and will not be – back for the 2027 model year.
With that in mind, we’re happy to report that a performance model (ok fine, an appearance package) is being added to a carmaker’s lineup. We’re talking about the 2027 IS sedan, which Lexus recently confirmed will be available with a limited production Special Appearance Package in North America.
Now, as the name suggests, there’s no trick turbocharged – or supercharged – V8 in store, but Lexus is putting a lot into the package, which includes:
- Unique Envious Green color
- 19-inch BBS wheels
- Black NuLuxe-trimmed seats with green stitching
- Standard handling package includes adaptive variable suspension
- Torsen limited-slip rear differential
- Standard tech package includes traffic jam assist capability, lane change assist, and front cross-traffic assist
The 2027 Lexus IS Special Appearance Package is scheduled to arrive in North American dealers later this fall. Pricing hasn’t been announced, but availability will be limited to 350 units. A breakdown between the U.S. and Canada hasn’t been confirmed, but the vast majority will likely go to the U.S.

MIAMI (Aug. 29, 2026) — Marking the culmination of the Lexus IS 25th Legacy Tour, Lexus unveiled the 2027 Lexus IS Special Appearance Package at the last stop of the 4-city summer tour in Miami, Florida. For a quarter-century, the IS has bestowed performance, design, and driving passion — honoring the legacy that the Lexus IS has built within the automotive community.
Since 2022, Lexus has marked each year with a new Special Edition or Special Appearance Package, offering IS owners a next level of exclusivity. Continuing that tradition, the 2027 Lexus IS Special Appearance Package, built off the IS 350 F SPORT, introduces a striking new green exterior color called Envious and 19-inch black BBS forged alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin features black NuLuxe-trimmed seats with Ultrasuede inserts, accented by green stitching and satin chrome-finished trim.
All 2027 Lexus IS models, including the Special Appearance Package, are powered by a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 311 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft of peak torque. The IS is available in rear-wheel drive, paired with a standard eight-speed automatic transmission, or all-wheel drive, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The 2027 Lexus IS Special Appearance Package comes standard with several features that set it apart, including:
- F SPORT perforated NuLuxe-trimmed seating with green stitching
- 19-inch black BBS forged alloy wheels
- Handling Package, including a sport-tuned Adaptive Variable Suspension, Drive Mode Select (ECO, Normal, Sport S, Sport S+, and Custom), and a Torsen limited-slip rear differential (RWD only)
- Technology Package, featuring Traffic Jam Assist capability, Lane Change Assist, and Front Cross-Traffic Alert
- Triple Beam LED headlamps
- Moonroof
- Intuitive Parking Assist
- Panoramic View Monitor
- Power rear sunshade

The 2027 Lexus IS Special Appearance Package is scheduled to arrive at Lexus dealerships later this year. There will only be 350 Lexus IS vehicles with the Special Appearance Package assembled for the North American market.
