The annual event this year proved to be a staple in the automotive event scene to stay around for years to come. It is one of the only shows to see some amazing machines that we would never typically see here in Canada.
A single day event included seven hours of show/drift/drag/stunts and some drooling over one off customs in between, the Battle at the Border gets a different crowd every year. Mixed in with the local cars with custom body kits and airbrushing are some of the most amazing SEMA level cars, some are from local builders, others are on tour like Aaron Vaccar's Ford Fusion. Another highlight is that most of these cars are driven to the show, never trailered in. One of Mark Abate's recent creation was the 2009 SEMA widebody Camaro running twin turbos, nitrous, 14-inch big brake kit and more.
Drifting was performed by Wade O'Drey, RJ Nunley (both of SuiSlide) and Ken and Jay from Clinton Welding Crew and other friends like slide junkie Josh Muir. Stunt bikes came in packs with the help of: Ramone, Witt and Behn from 716 riders and their friends. Performing wild one off tricks and keeping people in awe during the day. Canadians and Americans shared tools and skills at the oval drifting and shredding away tires to please the crowd.
The day ended with the sea of awards being handed out, congratulations to all in the car show, bikini contest, stunt bike, drifter winners! Can't wait for 2011 Battle at the Border!
