Auto Gallery Car Show 2012

. Ever been to the Louvre in Paris or the Smithsonian in Washington, DC? Imagine all the art pieces, along each wall and in your mind. Transform them into automobiles, and you will inevitably be placing yourself at Auto Gallery. With the artistic backdrop of Huntington Beach, the weather at a steady 75 - 80 degrees and partly cloudy, it was a portrait image for an intimate show. With the stage in the center along the horizon line, there were two aisles of cars to walk through and admire. Auto Gallery was an intimate show, with moderate quantity of cars…

Tokyo Auto Salon 2010

Every year we put our daily lives on hold and hop on a plane for Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS). After 13 hours living it up in First Class, we arrive in Japan the following day after crossing the International Date Line. The first order of business when you step off the plane is to grab a DoCoMo cell phone in the airport, which will cost around $60 for the week. Then it’s time to hop on the train and head out to the hotel that booked us in a cramped 10’x10’ room. Since the twin beds were almost touching, our…

MECA Sizzles at The Vinny

Lebanon, TennesseeJuly 11, 2010 The James E. Ward Ag Center & Fairgrounds in Lebanon, TN was shakin’ as MECAheads from 10 states gathered for SQL, SPL, and Show & Shine contests at “The Vinny”. It’s an annual event hosted by MECA Charter Member, Vinny Taylor, who is also one of MECA’s top SQL Judges. He shells out the dough to make this happen, with big trophies, and $1000 in prize money for the Top 3 scores in Sound Quality and Sound Pressure contests. Steve Cook (Team Audio X/Zapco) from Florence, AL, earned $250 for the highest SQ score of the…

Tokyo Auto Salon 2016: Mihama-ku, Chiba. Japan

TAS 2016 was a bit of a renaissance for me. It was the 10th consecutive time I’d visited the event since arriving in Japan in 2005. And whilst I wished for things to be totally different, I am glad that much of what I’ve come to know and love hasn’t changed at all, whereas many other things have undergone transformation. That’s not to suggest the Tokyo Auto Salon is stale in any way, but you do get used to the rhythm and tempo of the event after having visited it so many times. The same faces, the same names —…
