SkyMeet 2011
It was a hot muggy day, but members of GTRCanada turned out in masses for SkyMeet 2011 – the official Skyline yearly gathering, this time in the Toronto area. Held at the Right Drive head office in Vaughn, forum members began filling up the parking lot in the early morning and continued well into the afternoon. Despite the 30+ degree weather and lack of female eye-candy, these tuner purists showed that nothing could stop their love affair and support of Canada’s largest Skyline club.

SkyMeet 2011
A total of 55 Skylines showed up for SkyMeet 2011, although there was a total of 64 cars. The other “none-Skyline” vehicles included a black Toyota Celica GT-FOUR, a yellow Honda S2000, a silver Aston Martin Vantage, a red Acura NSX, the AMS Motorsports’ 300ZX-TT and Lamborghini Gallardo. I guess not everyone could get a Skyline in time, but wanted to join the party… LOL!

The line up of Skylines seemed endless, but unlike other things in life with limits this one didn’t seem to bother anyone. Having too many Skylines at the same place is never a bad thing, ever!

Quite possibly the best looking and cleanest R32 GT-R in all of Canada, let alone North America. The interesting history about this GT-R is that it was purpose-built by TOMEI in Japan inside and out. It is currently owned by one of the techs at PUR Automotive until I can convince him that my left arm is worth just as much.

This eye-catching R33 got our attention. It seems like the “art car” bug caught this owner with a custom Sharpie design job done on the paint itself then clear coated. The colour of the vehicle is in fact gunmetal and a black Sharpie was used to do the graphic work. We are eager to do a photo shoot of this vehicle simply because it is different and bad-ass looking! KUDOS!

The current “King of the Hill” – the R35 GT-R! With nearly half a century of racing heritage, the newest generation of the GT-R (Skyline) is packed full of technology wizardry and more power than one can fathom. Mmm… Drool.

The reason many at SkyMeet 2011 showed up, to honour and appreciate all things RB especially the RB26DETT-engine. Inline 6-cylinder, twin turbo and ready to scorch tires on command.

The wonderful AMS Motorsports’ model Fendi now famous by holding the rainbow chrome AutoMotoFoto.net decal LOL! Now if we could only find a way to convince her to tattoo it!

If one Midnight Purple R33 GT-R wasn’t enough, how about three? Quite possibly the most gorgeous colour to have ever come out of a Nissan spray booth.

A beautiful shot of the back-end of the GT-Rs. Maybe during the SkyMeet 2012, I will suggest having a “SkyAss” competition… Gotta love the twin taillights!

The three GT-R musketeers: Dave Pankew (Autoblog | R32 GT-R), Jerry Lee (R35 | R35 GT-R) and Johnny Chu (Found of GTRCanada | R33 GT-R). Don’t they look so cute together? LOL!

The trophy table complete with GTR Canada and AutoMotoFoto.net decals, AMF T-Shirts and flyers! Although there were many beautiful machines that turned up, there could only be a winner for each category which ranged from factory-stock to modified in each vehicle model (GT-S, GT-R, etc.)

An awesome day it was and we look forward to next year’s SkyMeet. Be sure to check out the forum for more information as to how you can get involved and if you’re in the market for a unique powerhouse vehicle then is there really any other choice than a Nissan Skyline? Thought so.
